| hello all, first let me start off this email by thanking all of our non-BC members for attending our meeting today in SUBO, also for the outreach program the people who were willing to sign up thus far included 2 of our new members including R.J (rj@riseup.net), morgan (mress@hunter.cuny.edu) and our very own BC head Tashana. Also a new member to our forum today included john (whose email is jonnylocks@hotmail.com) please add all these email adresses to the summit list to any further forwarded emails. The issues we discussed today included but were not limited to the following: -ways at attmpting to inform people on campus how we can bennifit from thier participation, and to show them how our agendas touch on the issues that may be on thier minds -also we discussed that thier is a presence of ignorance on campus to the ideas of community because of our cuny system (in which thier are no dorms and how most students commute to school and leave when classes end) -our main goal is to present the issue to people but at the same time to get network with one another and to meet eachother and develop relations to make our group more productive -we need to work on how to get the ppl together and organized -summit is brooklyn focused -intercommunity interaction and change -we need to establish reasons why this is needed -we need to get ppl inishiated and motivated to be invloved -and most importantly we need to break through the communication gaps present and to remove the personal isolation CUNY students usually posses -we also need a little manipulation to draw ppl in, something that inishiates them or gives them incentive -one possible way of recruiting ppl would be by advertising our flyers to include issues ppl are interested in (perhaps (as samir brought up) we may be able to depart from the routine academic troubles and try to on public issues at hand) -also bringing non-professional, non PHd, etc.. ppl, ppl from the neighborhood or whatever to speak and present thier topics at hand would also serve the purpose of making the efforts more community driven and appealing -we also thought of the common theme, the common thread that links all our issues, which could be. as R.J stated the conglomeration of power of the few making decisions affecting the many, like when a city official or a school official makes a decision we as community/students/faculty have no say in opposition or praise, its not in our hands Also i would like to mention that our next meeting will be taking place next tuesday September 30th at 1:45 in the cosmic room @ SUBO note to morgan:all the emails addresses in this email compromise our summit list
