CUNY-BC Winter 2009-10 Study Abroad in China

Program Dates: May 27-June 23, 2010 (Program Flyer)

Application Deadline: March 12, 2010

 

Four-Week Program during Winter Intersession--Live, Study & Travel to Five Famous Chinese Cities:

Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, Suzhou/Hangzhou & Shanghai

With side trips to Hong Kong, Guilin, Sanya (Oriental Hawaii), Yellow Mountain & Tibet

 

Students may choose 3-6 credits of study from the following:

1. History 53: Revolutionary China

2. Business 76.5: Asian Business

3. Core Curriculum 20.06: Development of the Silk Road

4. Core Curriculum 1.1: Classical Cultures (Classical China)

5. Speech 23: Business & Professional Communication (Cross-Cultural Perspectives)

6. Chinese 1.1 Beginners Chinese & Chinese 2.1 Intermediate Chinese

7. Speech 18.5 Intercultural Communication

 

Program Features:

  1. All courses are taught by Brooklyn College faculty, for CUNY-BC credit
  2. Group travel to 5 famous Chinese cities: Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, Suzhou/Hangzhou & Shanghai
  3. Field trips to sites of historical and cultural importance (e.g., Great Wall, Tian An Men Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Ming Tomb, Terra Cotta Warriors, Suzhou Gardens/Picturesque Hangzhou West Lake, Tea Plantation, Silk Factory, Cloisonné Factory, Shanghai Bund, etc)
  4. Experience Chinese culture, interact with local people, have a real feel of Chinese life
  5. Celebrate Chinese New Year with the Chinese
  6. See the new Beijing and new China after the Olympics
  7. Look forward to a fascinating Shanghai ready for World Expo 2010
  8. Travel and sightseeing are arranged by professional travel agencies
  9. Help arrange side trips to Hong Kong, Sanya (Oriental Hawaii), Guilin, Yellow Mountain & Tibet

 

Estimated Total Program Cost: only $2,798, which includes:

  1. round-trip international tickets (NYC to Beijing; Shanghai to NYC)
  2. transportation within the 5 cities and between cities in China
  3. hotel rooms (3-4 stars) in all the cities in China
  4. admission tickets to the scenic spots for the field trips

 

Open to All CUNY campuses and any other US campus

          Both qualified CUNY and non-CUNY undergraduate and graduate students can enroll
