Summer Science Program

Summer Program 2009

The BOSC Summer Program runs from July 6th through July 17th and meets Monday through Friday 10 AM to 4 PM, except on field trip days when we may run longer.

The BOSC experience begins with a free two-week Summer Institute designed to assist pre-freshmen in the transition from high school to college. A stipend is granted to all eligible participants. The Summer Institute is composed of a series of orientation workshops, field trips to points of scientific interest, an introduction to different science majors and career paths, and activities to help students get the most out of Brooklyn College. Previous field trips have been to the American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brookhaven National Laboratories, and fossil hunting in Big Brook, NJ, ecology cruise on the Gowanus Canal, and Fresh Kills Park.

Students will also be enrolled in a credit baring summer course. Tuition for this course will be free, a $860.00 value approximately. This summer we are offering Pre-Calculus (3 credits) and Intro to Computer Programming in C++ (4 credits). Both courses run from July 20th to August 18th and will be in the morning Monday to Thursday.
