The
golden rules of email correspondence
|

|
- Check your email daily.
- ALWAYS PUT <yourname> AND <class title> IN THE SUBJECT so I know who the message is from. You may want to consider using your Brooklyn College email for school work – you can access it in the BCWebCentral Portal http://portal.brooklyn.edu
- Email is a formal means of communication in the context of school or work; please sign every message at the bottom, use polite language, capital letters, punctuation, greetings and salutations. Please avoid abbreviations, slang and cuteness.
- Assignments may not beaccepted via e-mail. If they are, please follow the instructions explicity such as an exact string of words you will be given for the SUBJECT (this allows the instructor to automatically archive your emails into folders for easier retrieval and record keeping) or, if the homework is to be sent as an ATTACHMENT, please use the filename given to you (this allows routing messages to the appropriate folders avoiding misplacement or deletion).
- Because you may need to be reminded of an assignment, or catch up on notes from a missed class, be sure to exchange phone numbers or email
addresses with your classmates.
