THE ASSIGNMENT OF SEATS

The ordinary citizen was probably assigned by tribe (there were ten tribes) to one of the thirteen wedges of the Theater of Dionysus.  The center wedge may have been reserved for members of the Council and the young men in military training, while non-citizens and women may been assigned to the two outer wedges.  These seating assignments, however, may not have been strictly observed.
