Retiarius and Secutor
The retiarius (net-man) wore no armor and used a net and a trident. In the picture, the retiarius (on the left) has lost his net and trident (on the ground). He is left with only his dagger. He is bleeding profusely from his left calf, as his opponent, a secutor, advances relentlessly. Note the oblong shield and heavy armor of the secutor.
