MISSION
The Center promotes a dynamic multicultural academic environment through policy initiatives, public forums, curriculum and faculty development, student empowerment, and community-based internships. The Center also supports intellectual diversity which can best be achieved by recruiting and supporting underrepresented women, and protected racial and ethnic populations in the administration, faculty and among the student body.

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1994 as an outgrowth of years of intense antiracist andantibigotry activities, curriculum reform, and policy innovationsby students, faculty, and administrators, the Center strives to create model transformative programs and diversity initiativesfor Brooklyn College, the City University of New York, the local community, and other urban institutions of higher education.
