New Major
Puerto Rican/Latino Studies (PRLS) and Business (36 credits)
American business is becoming increasingly global and
multinational. The role of U.S. Latinos in
small business, international corporations and in booming sectors such as music and the
entertainment industry has increased dramatically. Within the decade, Hispanic origin
population
will exceed 40 million and their impact on American business as consumers and contributors
to
the corporate world will be substantial. This program provides students with background in
Latino/Latin American business. An in-depth
knowledge about U.S. Latinos within a
transnational context, paired with a concentration in
Business, Management and Finance and a
research/field component in PRLS will give students the opportunity to pursue careers in
this
area.

9 elective credits in business-oriented courses from any department of the college
selected in consultation with Puerto Rican and Latino Studies faculty advisor.
