Folk Music in the
American Century 2-DAY

A distinguished group of folklorists,
ethnomusicologists, and social historians will come together to assess the
impact of Alan Lomax's activities as a folk music collector, promoter, record/
radio/ TV producer, and popular writer. Emphasis will be on Lomax's efforts
to foster public awareness and appreciation of American and world folk music
during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and his crucial role in the early urban
folk music revival.
