HAMLIN,
ROSALIE MÉNDEZ (1945 )
A
native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, this rock n roll pioneer was born
to an Anglo father and a Mexican mother. Hamlins 1962 hit recording, Angel
Baby propelled Rosie and the Originals to the top of the charts. Considered
by many Angelinos the first lady of rock n roll, Hamlin was
featured in the film, Mi Familia and makes guest honor appearances at car shows
throughout the Southwest. Hamlin is a music consultant at the Barrio Station Youth
Center in San Diego, California.
