JURADO,
KATY (1927 2002)
Born
María Cristina Estella Marcel Jurado García in Guadalajara, Mexico,
on January 16, 1927, the actress, Katy Jurado is best known for her stellar role
in High Noon (1952). She began an acclaimed career in both Mexican and
U.S. films at the age of sixteen. In addition to High Noon, for which she
received a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe, Jurado was nominated for a Best
Supporting Actress Academy Award for Broken Lance, (1954), and won a Silver
Ariel for her film Fe, esperanza, y caridad (1973). In 1998 Jurado won
a Best Supporting Actress Silver Ariel for Evangelio de las maravillas
(1998).
