Professor Saam Trivedi
Tuesdays 11:00-12:15, and Thursdays 11:00-1:05 Spring 2009

Metaphysics, broadly understood as the study of reality, is often described as being at the heart of Philosophy, with important connections to other branches of Philosophy. In this class, we will discuss some of the central issues in metaphysics such as: universals and properties; substance; freewill and determinism; identity, individuation, and persistence; personal identity; events; the mind-body relation; causation; time; realism and anti-realism. Both classic and contemporary readings will be used.
