Graduating with Honors in Psychology


Your B.A. or B.S. degree may be awarded with Honors in Psychology if you achieve a superior record in the Department. The requirements are straightforward:

  • Earn a scholastic index of 3.5 or higher in all the advanced courses in your psychology major Complete at least 3 credits of honors work in an advanced course (usually 83.1 or 87.1 - but any advanced course may be taken for honors credit - see the Bulletin for details about earning "Honors Credit in Regular Courses"; and
  • Receive the recommendation of your honors instructor. If you meet these requirements, the Department will automatically recommend you to the College's Committee on Course and Standing for a degree with honors for excellence in advanced study in psychology.
