Getting Involved in Research
Most of our faculty members are active researchers - in the laboratory and in the outside world. Professors welcome the interest and involvement of students who have the drive, skill, and time to work as colleagues in the Independent Research (Psychology 83.1) and Independent Field Work (Psychology 87.1) programs.
We have excellent laboratories in animal training, physiological psychology, human perception, sensory physiology, human learning and cognition, social psychology, developmental psychology, and industrial/organizational psychology. By arrangement with a faculty member, a student can work for credit on a tutorial basis, learning to do research in a small group or an individual field work setting. Our undergraduates have often published the results of their independent research in leading journals.
