Dr. Mary DeBey joined the faculty at Brooklyn College in 2004 as the program head of the Early Childhood Program.  Prior to coming to Brooklyn she developed and directed the Center for Creative Teaching at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.  Dr.  DeBey received her B.A from Brooklyn College in early childhood.  After teaching Kindergarten in Brooklyn she received an MA from the University of Vermont in Early Childhood Special Education and a Ph.D. in Program Development and Evaluation from SUNY at Albany.   

Dr. DeBey's most recent work has been second language development in early childhood.  At Bennington College she initiated a Spanish language program at the college's laboratory school for children 2 years through Kindergarten.  She also developed and directed a student/teacher exchange program between Bennington College and a consortium of schools in Peru. Dr. DeBey also teaches curriculum design as a visiting professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador.
