Research and Development
The Early Childhood Center, the lab
school of the School of Education is an active participant in
faculty research and development efforts, and provides a leadership
role in identifying areas of inquiry. Research at the Center is
closely linked to classroom practice and to our mission of teacher
preparation and the education of other professionals who work with
children. Center faculty and staff are actively involved in all
research endeavors. Additionally, they engage in teacher research,
studying their own classrooms, reflecting on their practice, and
continually assessing and revising their work with children and
families.
In its role as the laboratory school of the School of
Education, the Early Childhood Center explores questions pertinent
to the lives of young children. Research at the Center is closely
linked to classroom practice and to our mission of teacher
preparation and the education of other professionals who work with
children. Faculty and students develop and engage in research
projects at the Center and in early childhood classrooms throughout
Brooklyn.
