by Tiffany Florio The Early Childhood Center at Brooklyn College was established in 1953 as the laboratory school of the School of Education. The Center provides a space for students to explore questions of child development and to study the contributions of educational, social and cultural environments to children’s growth. Parents and other family members are actively involved in their children's education. The Early Childhood Center offers day programs for infant and toddlers and for preschool aged children, as well as after-school and weekend programs for children from preschool through the elementary school years. The Center also offers instructional, observational, and research opportunities for students and faculty at Brooklyn College and throughout CUNY.
