The Teacher Academy is a four-year program of undergraduate study in mathematics or science education. Its purpose is to encourage talented high school graduates to become mathematics and science teachers for New York City middle and high schools.
The Teacher Academy is located on ten CUNY campuses-Borough of Manhattan Community college, Brooklyn College, The City College, College of Staten Island, Hostos Community college, Hunter College, Lehman College, Queens College, Queensboro Community College, and York College.
The cornerstone of The Teacher Academy is the partnership between CUNY and the New York City Department of Education, begun with generous funding from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation as part of the New York City Partnership for Teacher Excellence. Teacher Academy students begin working in host schools in their first year.
Each student who enrolls in The Teacher Academy is eligible for:

In order to retain The Teacher Academy scholarship, at the end of their first year of study, students must commit to working in a high need New York City public school for at least two years after graduation. The New York City Department of Education commits to students that each new teacher placed in a New York City school will receive one-on-one mentoring in order to ensure success in the classroom. Teacher Academy students will develop and maintain a network of fellow graduates and former faculty for ongoing guidance while on the job.
The Teacher Academy at Brooklyn College is a unique program offering Brooklyn College students the opportunity to become members of a community of science and mathematics educators at the College and at our exceptional host schools throughout Brooklyn.
