Important Message About Fingerprinting

A New York City Department of Education (DOE) policy now requires that all student teachers must be fingerprinted and photo ID in order to student teach. This requirement must be met by the end of February. If not you will be removed from your student teaching placement. Fingerprint and ID

Location: 65 Court Street, 3rd floor, Monday-Friday 9-3.

Cost: $115.00 paid by personal check or money order. Instructions on how to fill out the check or money order will be given at 65 Court Street.

A photo ID will be taken and is free of charge. The ID card will be sent to Brooklyn College and will be presented to you by your supervising professor.

If you already have fingerprints but no photo ID you must have the ID picture taken.

If you have fingerprints at the New York State Education Department, you must fill out a form that releases them from Albany to the New York City DOE.

Very specific documentation must be presented when you have your fingerprints taken. Please see the attachment: Fingerprint Documentation

If you have a Substitute Teacher License and a Smart Card you must bring the Smart Card to 65 Court Street for verification. You will then be given a letter of introduction for the principal of the school where you will student teach.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS MUST GO TO 65 COURT STREET FOR A LETTER OF INTRODUCTION. YOU WILL NOT BE FINGERPRINTED UNLESS YOU HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD.
