Dr. McCabe is a New York State certified school psychologist, New York State licensed psychologist, and a nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP). He joined the faculty at Brooklyn College in 2004 after teaching in the School Psychology Program at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York, since 1997. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University in 1998, and completed his undergraduate work at the University of Rochester. 

Dr. McCabe specializes in early childhood development and school psychology. He has researched the interaction between language and communication impairment and concomitant social and behavioral problems. Dr. McCabe serves as a consulting psychologist to preschools and day care centers, particularly in the areas of assessment, applied behavioral analysis, functional behavioral assessment, and behavior management. He is also conducting research in topics pertaining to school psychology, including stress and anger management, social competence, developmental psychopathology, and issues in assessment.

Dr. McCabe is also examining the confluence of two disciplines: pediatric psychology and school psychology. He has developed a monthly article series in the National Association of School Psychologist’s (NASP) periodical Communiqué devoted to research in pediatric school psychology. He is also examining neuropsychological assessments designed for early childhood.
