The Speech and Hearing Center of Brooklyn College is one of the oldest and largest speech and hearing clinics in the United States. It was established in 1931, and has provided services to many thousands of clients. The Center is a state-of-the-art facility that provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services for children and adults with speech, language, voice and hearing impairment.
 
     The Center provides Speech and Language therapy services for clients exhibiting developmental or acquired disorders of articulation and phonology, language, voice and stuttering. These services include full diagnostic evaluations and programs of remediation, including individual, one-to-one therapy sessions, group sessions and family training when appropriate.
 
     The Center provides diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology services for those with normal hearing, hearing impairment and for those with auditory processing disorders. Services include complete audiological evaluations, audiologic rehabilitation, and the dispensing of hearing aids.
 
     The Center also serves as a training facility foe the academic program. Graduate students in the Department of Speech Communication Arts and Sciences receive their clinical education under the supervision of a large faculty of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, each of whom is licensed by the New York State Education Department, and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition, the academic program is accredited by ASHA's Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech- Language Pathology.
