Emma Halpern is the Co-Artistic Director of New York City Children's Theater (formerly Making Books Sing), where she has served as a producer and dramaturg on over 20 productions and workshops, including seven world premieres. She helped manage the company's 2014 name change and re-branding project, and currently oversees the company's new works initiatives. She has given presentations at the Mid-America Theatre Conference, NYU Theatre for Young Audiences Forum, New Victory Theater/AATE Play-in-Progress Symposium, and TYA/USA One Theatre World, and has written for American Theatre, TYA Today, and Puppetry International. Emma has an MFA in Dramaturgy from Brooklyn College, where she is an adjunct lecturer.
