Welker White has worked as an actor in theater, film, and television for over 25 years. She made her New York theatrical debut in Lanford Wilson’s Lemon Sky opposite Jeff Daniels and Cynthia Nixon, and directed by Brooklyn College directing professor Mary B. Robinson. Since then, Welker has worked on and off-Broadway as well as regionally, originating roles in works by acclaimed playwrights such as Craig Lucas, John Patrick Shanley, David Ives, Keith Reddin, Howard Korder, Mac Wellman, Joanna Murray-Smith, Amy Freed, and Lisa Kron. On film, she has worked with noted directors Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas), Peter Weir (Dead Poet’s Society), Nora Ephron (This Is My Life), Ed Burns, and Chris Rock, to name a few. Recent films include Eat Pray Love, Morning Glory, and Cedar Rapids. Her television credits include numerous guest appearances on shows such as Sex and the City, multiple Law & Order episodes, and Smash, as well as many made-for-television movies.

Welker attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Circle in the Square Professional Training Program, and received a Bachelor of Science in Theater Studies from the CUNY Baccalaureate Program, graduating summa cum laude. She has been awarded numerous academic grants and awards, and in 2010 completed an MFA in Directing from Brooklyn College, where she was awarded a teaching fellowship. In addition to teaching both graduate and undergraduate students at Brooklyn College, Welker has also had the honor of working with the STAR program: a College Now program supported through a partnership with the New York Department of Education.
